The dentist...

Never did it cross my mind again that i have to relive every child's nightmare of visiting the dentist, when your teacher start calling out names of students who need to pay the dentist a little visit is like being on a deathroll. The walk of silence from your classroom to the dentist's clinic. yes those were the days where the fear of the dentist would send any little kid scrambling off to brush their teeth or face the wrath of the school's witch-like teeth care provider.

i could no longer ignore the pain my wisdom tooth is causing me anymore so i had no choice but to book an appointment with the dentist. well my decision is largely base on the fact that i'll be getting 1 week mc after the extraction which is today. i can't help but feel nervous about the whole operation, afterall its my first time going under the knife. alright think about the 1 week mc and all the pain would be worth it.

since i can't eat after the extraction, i went for a buffet with my maternal family on saturday. initially the operation was scheduled to be before the buffet but i changed it so that i can enjoy what my aunt said was a splendid spread in a 5 star hotel. it wasn't as great as what my aunt said it to be, the cooked food are all so so only. i must admit the seafood are fresh enough for me and the pastries were the highlight of the buffet. however my cousin who came back from Australia recently after his studies said the seafood is nothing compared to those he had in Australia. after lunch, i wanted to go to BIG megastore in harbour front as they are having sales up to 90% discount and thought that i might get something cheap. my cousin offered to drive me there but we had to go back to his place to get his car. you see his was a weekend car so he did not drive out to lunch and although we were at marina square and harbour front is just around the corner, we went back all the way to sengkang and then out again back to harbour front just for the sake of having a ride in my cousin's car. oh did i fail to mention that we also got ridiculously lost in the process of navigating from sengkang to HF since my cousin was still unfamiliar with the roads in Singapore as he just came back. i must say it was fun driving around Singapore and for the first time instead of staring blankly out the window, i was buried in the street directly. eventually we arrived at HF with a great sense of satisfaction one normally would not have on any ordinary day.

And now for the journey from HF back to tampines........

The beautiful game...

Its the time again where the world unites on a distant land, a time when titans clash to achieve their dreams of being crown the best team in the world. it only comes to this earth once every four years, no its not an alien invasion nor the Olympics, its the long awaited "fifa world cup 2006".

i have to admit that i'm not a hardcore soccer fan, i don't even watch any soccer at all prior to the world cup. i'm one who would laugh at those who lose sleep just to watch a club match. i have no idea why its call "the beautiful game", i mean aren't gymnastic or synchronize swimming a lot more beautiful? well maybe they aren't games to begin with. anyway, when world cup fever hits, i am a convert. i become one of your typical soccer fan. maybe its because the world cup comes only once every 4 years or maybe i just like to watch countries instead of clubs playing. hence why i'm blogging at this time, i'm waiting for the next match to start at 3am.

The world cup has played a significant part in my life. no it has not imbue me with the mentality that i can get rich by playing soccer. but rather its a time when i can sit down with my dad and sometimes my sis to just watch a game of soccer. for as long as i can remember, i've been doing that since the world cup in 1994. i guess to me the game is beautiful in that it brings people together, to stand united in one voice to cheer for their favourite country, where families can sit down and watch a game together. whenever i'm with my dad watching soccer, i feel a special bond between father and son. we let our hair down and just scream our lungs out. hey how many of you can say that u stay up the whole night watching tv with your dad?

alright enough about the world cup. what about me? hmmm.... i guess i'm pretty alright. life in army just got better with the arrival of my platoon medics, now i don't have to do all the covers myself. which means i can sleep in the afternoon, splendid timing since i'll be awake the whole night watching the world cup. yikes look at the time! its 3 am, i'll end my entry for now. maybe i'll post a more in depth of what i'm up to in my next entry. ciao!
